The Magic of Motherhood: A Beautiful Beach, Underwater and Golden Hour Maternity Photoshoot at Bantham Beach | Devon & Cornwall Family Photographer

The golden hour is a magical time of day when the sun sets and the sky is painted in warm hues of orange, pink and purple. This time is especially perfect for photography as the soft light creates a beautiful, dreamy atmosphere. That's exactly what I experienced during a recent sunset maternity photoshoot on Bantham Beach.

My client, 35-week pregnant Sophie, wanted to capture this special moment in her life before welcoming her new little one into the world. She was joined by her daughter, who was eager to be a part of the shoot. Together, they made for the perfect family unit, and we were excited to capture their love and connection.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, we made our way to a picturesque location near the water's edge. S was glowing, and her young daughter was excited to be a part of the photoshoot. We started with a few posed shots on the beach, capturing the warm golden light and the beauty of the S's pregnancy.

But what really made this photoshoot stand out was when the S bravely stepped (and dipped- one very happy photographer here!) into the water. She was fearless, and her daughter was right by her side, both of them giggling and having fun. The soft light of the sunset combined with the gentle ripples of the water created a truly breathtaking scene.

As the mother-to-be cradled her bump, we captured the tender moments between her and her daughter, who was excitedly touching her mother's belly and waiting to meet her new sibling. The love and joy between these two was palpable, and it was a privilege to be able to capture these memories for them.

We continued to take photos as the sun set behind the horizon, casting a warm glow on the scene. Sophie was stunning in the soft light, and her daughter was a ball of energy, splashing in the water and making silly faces. These candid moments were just as beautiful as the posed shots, capturing the real emotions and joy of this special moment in their lives.

As the photoshoot came to an end, the sky was painted in a brilliant display of orange, pink and purple hues. It was the perfect ending to a magical golden hour maternity photoshoot.
